11th Annual Fiesta Ball Benefits Cancer Research at UAB
The Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will host its 11th annual Fiesta Ball on Friday, May 5 at Iron City. Proceeds from this event are used to fund the Mary Ann Harvard Young Investigator Award, a competitive grant for young scientists conducting cancer research at UAB.
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center is focused on one vision – to eliminate cancer as a major public health problem. The Cancer Center is making tremendous strides in developing new and better avenues to provide the highest quality of life for people diagnosed with cancer, while advancing the possibilities for prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship.
Young scientists play an extremely important role in the future of cancer treatment and patient care. “Without proper funding, we risk losing the next generation of scientists, along with the great advancements they will make in cancer research,” said Edward Partridge, M.D., director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. “The work they do is critical to the future of cancer care, and we can’t afford to lose these great minds as they begin their careers, and possibly hold the key to a cure.”
By donating to the Young Supporters Board’s Fiesta Ball fundraiser, you are investing in the future of cancer research and helping the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center save lives and share hope with cancer patients and their families.
