Graduate Student Medical Assistance Fund / Loan Program

The Graduate Student Government is pleased to announce that we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to support two of our most important support funds for graduate students at UAB. The first is the Graduate Student Medical Assistance Fund, which supports graduate students in need of financial assistance during medical-related hardships that would otherwise interfere with their graduate studies. This fund was started in 2010 and has supported students who have had unexpected medical bills that are not covered by their health insurance. In addition, we are also launching a campaign for a new fund, the Emergency Loan Program. In the Spring of 2016, the GSG took a campus-wide survey of graduate students and over 30% of respondents expressed concerns about the cost of living or lack of student loan programs at UAB. This program will support students who encounter unexpected expenses and need temporary financial support to reduce the burden of payment. We need your help to get these programs off the ground and support our graduate students at UAB.
